📍 Central Mexico

The Site

Once among the largest cities on Earth, home to perhaps 100,000 people by 500 AD, Teotihuacan is dominated by the Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon along the Avenue of the Dead. The Aztecs, who found it centuries later, did not know who had built it.

The Enigma

The city is laid out on a precise grid aligned to astronomical and geographic markers, and sheets of mica — a mineral sourced from thousands of miles away — were found layered within its structures. The unknown builders, the alignments and the exotic materials remain open questions.

The Journey

About an hour from Mexico City. Journeys pair it with the city's great anthropology museum and can extend to Chichén Itzá and the wider Maya world.
